History Of Mallorca
History of Mallorca is very long and it revolves around the cultural as well as religious conflicts. Its history may be looked at in terms of different eras that have ever ruled this Island. Every era had an impact on the culture and the religion of the Mallorca Island.
Pre-Historic era. This ranges between 5000 BC to 1000 BC where there was very little information about it. The first people lived in caves and later build stone houses which were later ruined between 2000 BC to 1400 Island BC. They build the towers which are still present up to date to attract tourists.
Carthaginian era (700 BC to 146 BC). Mallorca was colonized and ruled by Carthaginians for a long time during which it was used as a military base after they were fighting the Romans. They then lost the war to the Romans about 146 BC during Punic Wars.

The Moors era (700 to 1229). There was a struggle against Moors that occurred between the 6th and 7th century where the Moors managed to conquer the Mallorca Island in the year 798. Kingdom of Mallorca. This was between 1229 to 1349. In 1229, Jaume l ‘El Conquistador’ took over the Mallorca island and completed the piracy. His kingdom later break up between his sons where Mallorca was under the rule of his elder son Jaue ll who later built a cathedral in Palma after re-establishing the Christianity.
This kingdom was again conquered by the kingdom of Aragon in 1349.
Kingdom of Spain. In 1479, both the kingdoms of Aragon and Castille were incorporated to form the single kingdom of Spain. Fortifications had been constructed around Pollensa and Palma to forestall any invasion.
