Joined B Co., 40th Sig Bn in the summer of 1966 at Ft. Bragg, NC. Traveled to RVN by ship from Oakland Army Terminal in August 1966. Went ashore with B Company at Cam Ranh Bay. Later was transferred to HHC at Long Binh.
Looking for anybody who was with th 40th Sig Bn in 1966-67. I noticed a number of references to the 261st Signal Company in other requests. I was assigned to the 261st Signal Company at Fort Bliss, TX in 1962. It was a construction company and we erected lots of poles for cable at various missile ranges used by the Army Air Defense Command for training. Could this have been the same 261st Signal Company that was in Vietnam?

There is a name missing from the Memorial section. On the night of 30 Dec 1965 the 362nd Signal Company barracks in Dalat RVN was attacked. We had one KIA---SP4 Robert L Kraus (13774716). SP4 Kraus' body was flown to Nha Trang where he was declared deceased in the early morning hours of 31 Dec 1965 (hence the 31 Dec 1965 casualty date in the Vietnam Wall records.) As I recall the new barracks complex that we eventually moved into was named in his honor. Thanks.

Webmaster note:  SP4 Kraus's name has been added to the Memorial page.  Thank you for notifying us of the information.  If anyone can provide SP4 Kraus's hometown, we will add that information as well.

I am curious about unit listing for 1LT Rodney Alfano, SP5 Albert Leon Bets, SP4 Steven Leon Raney and SP4 Leon Fairden Huber. (All KIA on Feb 2, 1968 at the Khe Sanh Marine base)
We were all the 544th Signal Detatchment but all but Huber are listed as 362nd Sig co. We were atached to the 362nd Sig but our unit was a TROPO Signal Detachment..sister unit to the 545th Sig Detachment.
