Pix Group #9, Row 7, #2 pix, is "C" Co 36th Signal Bn.. Location
"Bearcat" (9th)Div Base Camp. It is Beacat Switch. I am "Bearcat 10
operator" (Jan 67 thru Jan 68). Later in 1967 a ESS Centrex Dial office was
installed.
I was at the Deep Water Port, Satthip, Thailand in 1972, where I had this same
manual switch to be shipped, retrograded out of South East Asia by ship.

B_0255 (Vietnam, pg 9, row 4, column 3) is Vung Tau-VC Hill. Pic taken
facing west. Righmost billboard antennas are Pleiku shot. Round black dishes
in foreground are probably Cam Rahn link, to be replaced with solid billboards
to be put on curved foundation behind them. Wire dishes to rear are Green Hill,
Thailand shot (472 mi, I recall). Main gate is road exiting pic to upper left.
(Just visited 11/2005 and went to the hill. All is gone except framework for
Pleiku billboards - all wire mesh gone. A few foundations and a couple of the
concrete guard towers, nothing else). PS-Was HQ for 369th sig bn, Reg Comm
gp. Co A was operator of actual sig sites there.
Robert Stephens, Gainesville, FL, adds the following. "In
relation to identification of the VC Hill photo (Note 2): Tower and building in
background is "Vung Tau Relay" operated by Co D 41st Sig Bn/39th Sig Bn.
Photo was taken sometimes in 1967. We erected that building early that year.
Newer building erected by engineers later that year is not there yet."
3. Group 9 3rd Column 5th photo down: Photo was taken from front of D Co/41st Sig Bn/39th Sig Bn site on VC Hill, Vung Tau. Jamesway in middle belongs to AN/TRC-29 site of 327th Sig Co. Shelters in front line are ones which we removed from our pad as we built building around them and dismounted equipment. (Small shelter was our old patch panel.) Photo is not clear enough to identify three men to the left but they were no doubt people I knew while assigned to D/41st Sept '66-Nov '67.
