The Brigade Motto, "First to Communicate"

As reported by CSM "CJ" Johnson, the motto was adopted during his 1997-98 tour.  In his words, "Research revealed that the brigade never had an official motto recognized, so Col Lee had the PAO hold a contest to pick an official motto. There was some prize for the winner; I cannot remember exactly what it was, R&R, a savings bond or something like that. None of the ones submitted seemed appropriate, so I recommended to Col Lee, 'First to Communicate'. It really has a dual meaning; it can mean 1st Signal Brigade reporting to communicate or first on the battlefield communicating."
